Comfort blanket
I wonder if there’s a comfort in seeing that other people’s likes and dislikes?
(not when they disagree with you obvs)
(but that’s ok - those kinds of views are just stilly or misinformed)
I’m talking about perspectives that resonate with your own.
It makes you feel seen.
Heard.
And in that moment perhaps part of you feels validated.
You feel a little less alone.
As if you’re connected to something bigger.
Yet the sensation doesn’t last for long.
And you quickly return for more.
To find the next image or video.
I’m wondering what keeps you going back?
If you did stop, what would it be like?
Perhaps there’s a fear that you’d be alone with your thoughts.
Which might be scary.
But it means there’s not much time for your own reflections.
To really consider what’s meaningful for you.
Not what’s meaningful for ‘raindrops57’ or ‘backofthenet_george’.
Because while they may have some interesting views, they’re not your views.
And let’s be honest, these are the only views that are really important.
Take care,
Dave
